Hot Damn! I gots a smokin Bongo 6 Baby!

I was always kinda standoffish with Bongos...not for the looks mind you...always dug the looks. I was just partial to ash bodied SR5's and Stingrays. Well, I may have been turned out yall. Just got a Bongo 6HS and she is hot... Man the neck has an amazing profile, action is off the chain and ...the big big test.... it sounds fantastic without being plugged in. I have always said that if a bass sounds "live" before you plug it in....you know it is a good one. I cannot wait to gig this bass tonight. I have not been this excited to play a bass in a very long time. Not sure why I waited so long...but it was well worth it. Tons of gratuitous slobbering to follow....

Holy smoke, ...looks so huge on this pic, ...OK, I played Bongo 6 H, so I know how it really looks in a real situation, ...and yes, ...neck is perfect!

I love it - congrats.

I'd love to try to wrap my hand around that neck to see if I could comfortably play it. Is it difficult to play the E and A strings? It seems like quite a reach.

Do 6 string bass players tune like a guitar? EADGBE.

I find it very easy to play and get around on. To me it is just like an extended 4 string. Sixes are tuned all in fourths like a 4 string bass adding a string above and below the standard 4 string BEADGC. With the six, just like the four you can establish "anchor spots'....ie frets that you memorize and use to keep or adjust your bearing. For me I just make a mental not that the second fret on the top (C) string is now a D and the third fret on the bottom string (B) is also a D. Doing that seems to allow me to creat a mental image in my head of a standard four string pattern just expanded a tad. :0)
