How do you guys stop your guitar from falling off?

I once had a Gibson SG fall off the strap and crash to the floor (whilst playing a gig!!).

My Les Paul currently has strap buttons that allow the guitar strap to click into place
i.e. the strap buttons on the Les Paul are female and the leather strap has captive male ends. Click, click and its as solid as a rock.

I don't want to go down this route with my other guitars.

I have seen the guitar straps made by planet waves and they have a plastic cam device which seems to swivel and lock onto the guitar strap buttons.

Any recommendattions ? Do EB sell any such items?

On the "Grolsh" bottles of lager there is a special flip lid. On the flip lid is a red coloured washer.

step 1
Drink some bottles of Grolsh

step 2
remove the washer

step 3
put strap on guitar

step 4
secure strap on the button with the washer

step 5
Have another beer!!!!!!!

Strap locks. I started one of these threads 6 months ago or so, because the stock EBMM strap buttons look like the ones that accept the locking pin. I thought I could just buy the male end and a new strap.

Ended up putting Schaller strap locks on my JP.

As I was told back then - make sure you use the screws that came with the guitar - they'll go back in nice and shouldn't recut new threads or loosen the holes.

It sounds like you have a set of Dunlop Strap Locks on your LP. Those are the kind that I use on all my guitars. I like them more than Schaller.

The little white "cork" piece also comes in handy as a holder for thin hand-rolled cigarettes. They used to be ceramic-very cool-now they're plastic.

ahaaaa!..... now thats the ones that I am referring to in my original thread.

The idea seems great. I originally thought that it look a "bit plasticky" and prone to wear.

Have you been using this strap for a while ?

I put Dunlops on mine after reading many reviews/comparisons between them and the Schallers.

Me too, now Dunlop Lok's an everything. Nothing worse than a cracked off headstock on your $2000 baby, because you didn't want to spend $20 bucks for some locks.

Just got out my glasses!
It reads "Pickboy Lock pin".
I'll have to do a bit of research into that. At the moment all I get is Japanese web sites on a "google search" for pickboy.

I have a Planet Waves brand standard black strap with a "Pick Pocket" close to the end of the strap just in case my hands get too sweaty. Anyway, the tips have holes which are tight enough for me to have put it on my JP6 and not have to worry about it coming off. I'm sure that in time, the leather will wear down and I'll have to get a new one but it was tough to get it on, so it's tough to get it off.

I find that my plain ol' Ernie Ball strap and my inborn resistance to striking "rock star" poses, tend to keep my guitar off of the floor.
