How Important is the Lining Up of the Strings w/ Pole Pieces?

OK since I am about to embark on some serious SUB 1 mods and since electronics is something new, yet very exciting to me, I'm wondering how important is the spacing on the strings related to the pole piece spacing...my understanding is, that it is very important (F spaced pups, for example for trem pups).

Also, I noticed on my JP 7 that at the bridge, the pups do not line up with the strings, while on all my SUB 1's they do...now is this a 7 string thing? Thanks!

The short answer is that it's not really that important. Sure, ideally, you would want to have the pole piece right under the strings, but if they are a little off, it isn't that big of a deal.

The trem spacing is good...but it should fine either way really...

On 6's I tend to like the F Spaced stuff in both positions...
Lucy, djou got some splainin to do...
Sorry OC but that went over my head

In my experience it doesnt really matter. Sure you want the Bridge one to be 'F-Spaced' but just think when you bend strings, they are nowhere near the polepiceces that they are supposed to line up with.

I hear ya...ok thanks...looks like I'm getting those Rio Grande P90's for me ol' SUB :D
