How often do you break strings?

twice, both times when i was playing with a pick or didnt know how to slap and was pulling too hard on the strings

I think twice, in 25 Years of playing. And that was probably because the strings wre faulty...

I think I have broken 2-3 in 22 years. I change them often but not that often. My $(*%&$ 5 string has had the same strings on it since October. I think you might need to have your bridge checked out for spurs!

Under normal playing only one in 20 years... add my bass with a khaler to the mix then it goes up quite a bit.

Ever since I stopped using GHS strings (stopped a few years ago), I've had very few strings break. I think it's been probably months or close to a year now without my breaking a string.

i havent played blue steels in a damn long time - but theyre the only string id break on a regular basis.

im on cloud 9 w/ the stainles super slinkys

Used to break 'em every couple of months back in the late 70s....as someone mentioned above, checked my bridge for little spurs, took some sandpaper to it, problem solved.

None since.

back in the day tho (when i first started) i would break just about any string. i think i still have a few E's that ive broken lying around somewhere

Only 1 or 2 broken strings in 24 years of playing. The last one about 5 years ago when stretching a new G-string after installing. I can't remember the last time I broke one when playing - maybe never.

You are talking bass strings and not guitar strings, right??

I've never broken a bass string. In fact I usually cut them off when I'm replacing them and even that is tough
