how to clean maple fret board

what can i clean my maple fret board with its abit grimey, i have used lemon oil ;and someone just told me this is a big no no to use lemonoil on maple, ive bought the ernie ball fret board condictioner and am yet to try it out.

You could use Wonder Wipes. They work great.

Just keep playing. After a while all that grime will build up a nice layer and you can call your bass "vintage"

I use lem-oil and a 3M sanding sponge.

Lem oil

Lemon oil is what most luthiers use on fretboards. At least the ones I´ve talked to. Why should lem oil be a no no on maple fretboards? I´ve never heard that. Would be interesting to know.

It's only a no-no if you don't wipe off the excess afterwards. I use orange oil, which is a good all purpose cleaner and conditioner. Maple isn't as porous as rosewood, so while it cleans the maple board very well, it doesn't soak in, so a good wipe with a dry cloth after cleaning is all it needs.

Or use EBMM Wonder Wipes.

Ernie Ball Wonder Wipes do the trick though! Use the Fretboard conditioner ....
Cleans and revitalizes the neck. Orange, Jojoba and linseed oils .. like sweet necktar

thanks guys

i used the fret board condictioner last night and i was well inpressed its bought it up to new condiction, the music shop told me lemon oil can crack and warp maple by drying it out theye said it was a very sensative wood.

I had heard the same thing about lemon oil on maple - that it would dry out the wood and may even cause problems with frets no longer seating properly, but I cleaned my Axes fingerboards with Murphy's Oil Soap, then wiped the maple fingerboards using lemon oil. I made certain I wiped off all the excess, and I haven't encountered any problems with that method yet...
