While making a body template I had an unfortunate mishap with the router bit which shaved off a small chunk of the binding on my 1991 EVH sig model. Ernie Ball tells me the binding from that era was done with liquid epoxy. I have to refinish the guitar anyway as it is pretty beat up. So to fix the gouge, I'm thinking I can sand the binding, save the dust from sanding said binding, and use the sanding dust to color some clear epoxy which I plan to use as a filler. Has anyone done this before?

Hi! Welcome to the forum!

How big is the missing chunk? I'd be worry about how much dust you'd need to get a good color match. I would be blooking for a way to color epoxy with a dye and take all the necessary time required to get a good color match. But I've never done this. Your best bet is to talk to a guitar repair and refinish specialist and see what they would suggest. The advice you get from someone like that will be worth its weight in gold. From everyday guitar fans like us here on the forum, maybe not so much. :)
