I know this has probably been done before.

So how is it through an old marshal?

Does it come close or pretty much nail it??

Cause we have really only heard the EVH through the Peavy.

thanks!

It's pretty damn good. But the amp is most of the equation here. Find a good ole' 68/69 Plexi or clone (Metroamp), dime it and you're laughing. (And deaf.)

That's the "one and only" gee-tar!! Shoot it through a "Plexi" and thar you have it. Oh, and throw in an MXR Phase 90, and some Classic Rock n' Roll Super Slinkys for good measure!!

I must respectfully disagree with my fellow board members. The Axis will faithfully nail your personal tone everytime you pick it up. It will nail EVH's tone everytime he picks it up. If you really want to sound like EVH, you best bet is to die and be reincarnated as EVH. The biggest part of the tone equation is your hands.

I can get close to it with my axis and my modded DSL100. But like the other guy said, the sound is mostly coming from his hands beleive it or not.

To be honest the actual sound from the amp probably didn't sound much like the sound on record...

I find the Axis, in conjunction with the Boss Super Chorus and Super Overdrive pedals and the "plexi" setting on the DSL100, gives me a sweet Van Hagar tone. I played a gig with this set-up earlier this year and found the sound to be a great alternative to my usual settings. Good luck in your own quest for the elusive Brown Sound!

Did he bring that 5150 Kramer as well to copy stuff from?? I think that Kramer was made of Basswood? although P.Unkert told me it was made of Alder.

the Axis body shape was already designed before he arrived. The neck was copied from his previous main guitar. Try doing a search here for more info as most of us have move on from this topic...
