Hey guys. I'm planning on buying a 4-string Bongo and wanted to ask everyone's experience with the HS vs. the HH pickup configuration? Preferences/Advantages/Dislikes?

I'm really digging "the look" of the HS Bongo vs. the HH. I was just wondering if the single-coil pickup is in the same physical position as the neck humbucker's farthest coil? Can you get the same single-coil sound out of the neck humbucker?

Thanks for your answers in advance! It'll help me make my decision. :)

The sc is in the same position as the bridge coil if the neck humbucker. The sc has a voice all its own, and while i prefer the other versions (aggressive single h and tight focused hh) there is definitely something to be said for the sc soloed. Airy, earthy, open, whatever you want to call it:-)

Actually, Magnus--the single coil is in the same spot as the NECK coil of the neck humbucker on the HH Bongos.

I have and love both my HHp and HSp Bongos. But, I own both fretted and fretless versions of the HSp. :D I love the Bongo single coil sound. Granted, I do add some piezo to the mix, too.

The HH had too much power for me. I find my HS to be tamer and more useable. I dont spend all my time playing with knobs. Just set it and go.
