and ... it sucks that I'm at work. LoL.

Obviously it looks awesome. The finish is really nice (medallion gold). Looked over the bass for a lil while .... checked everything and its flawless.

I cant wait to go home and play the lil bastard ... and, yes, take photos and post up a new family portrait :)

ok after getting some playing time in i have some impressions. its past midnight so i cant play anywhere near loud but i snuck in a few loud moments during my little "quiet" jam session.

ok ... i like the HS Sterling better than I like the SR4 HH. why? its home. the both sound awesome but, again, i love the neck on the sterlings. also, as far as i can tell so far, the sterling seems to have more output. i dont remember if this was the case with a regular sterling vs a regular sr4 but, to me, teh hs sterling is louder than the hh ray. but they both rock ... just trun the volume knob a bit and theyve got the same volume.

like the SR4 the HS Sterling's neck PUP solo'd blew me away. these neck pups are crazy good. very cool tones when you solo the neck PUPs. I guess you could call em "what i wish a P could sound like". Its got a P kinda personality but beyond. very cool! Personally, again with limited experience, im gonna say i like the tone of the Single at the neck better than the H at the neck. Im comparing apples and oranges (Ray pup vs sterling pup) so this is NOT a fair comparisson but the S at the neck of teh Sterling is bad ass. the S by itself is definately quieter than any of the other 4 positions ... but thats what that volume knobs for :) Honestly id say if you sent Mike Dirnt the HS Sterling w/ a Ray profile neck he'd drop his F&^*^ sig. And that would be only for the S solo'd.

All the pup positions are very good. besides the bit of volume drop at pos 5 i have zero criticism ... but again, volume knob fixes that.

So ya ... i think the HS Sterling is the ultimate bass. I love how i ordered a bass id never played and assumed it would be my fav bass ever and low n behold it is :) Dudley & the team rocked the house designing these bad boys.

Ill get a more detailed review out soon when i can play louder. hmmm .... i wonder how the HH Sterling compares? :)

Dudley and the boys ..... who knew just a short while ago we'd be discussing Ernie Ball basses and single coil pickups? ..... have built the best single coil pickup I've ever heard.

Them 'buckers ain't bad, either, really.

well, obviosuly you has a lot to do with it! your name's on the thing Pops! :) plus i even remember a drunken phatty thanking the hell outta ya at OH :) But you are right ... jokes aside, i gotta give credit where credit is due. We all know youve been a huge contributor on all these new models (not just basses)... so thanks 2 u too sir!

My phrasing had a little somethig do with a post someone (eh hem, you ;)) made a little while back asking something like "when will people start to recognise Dudley?" ;)

Umm ... but really, i just finished playing the HS Sterling some more and its what ive always wanted a bass to sound and feel like. That S PUP is really good!

I took a quick breakand i remembered the pink SSS Sterling (proto, first one ever) and started daydreaming about playing that since im so in love with these S pups. How different are these new S PUPs than that on the proto Sterling? Id imagine theyre possibly very different but man id love to try that bass out. or whiel im dreuling i might as well start imaging them being the same sort of pickup.
