Hey don't feel stupid. You're starting bass at a younger age than I did. Today's basses are so much better than 30 years ago it's incredible. I'll guarantee you that your OLP sounds a LOT better than my first bass (1977 Fender MusicMaster - I do wish I still had it though).

I played an OLP not more than a week ago, and I could not tell an audible difference between the sound of it and my Stingray. Less output and weaker tone, but it was still uncanny. I was impressed.

The OLPs remind me of a certain other manufacturer whose initials are F.E.N.D.E.R. and who makes certain instruments in a country just south of our own little spot on the globe.

You gotta play 'em to sort out the good from the bad, but if you find a good one, it's a helluva deal.

Feeling stupid here! Nonsense!!!

Most of us began our bass learning process with something less than we have now. I started with a Fender Bullet Bass. I wanted to learn to play left handed, but the only lefties I could find were top of the line and expensive. Now you can find them in all price ranges, new and used.
