How are those Corts? I've never played one (I don't think...). And they're pretty sharp looking :)

It's a great bass. The build quality is nice, and the neck is superfast. This one had a high fret when I got it, but now it plays as well as any bass I've played. The action is pretty low with no buzzes up and down the fretboard.

I keep thinking I'll change out the electronics to some kent Armstrong lipstick tube pickups, but I can't justify spending $180 for pickups for a bass that cost less than $200. :D It sounds fine as it is (active pickups with passive electronics--how different is that on a sub-$200 bass?!?), and the Jazz Round strings are the perfect compliment to the vibe.

The mirror pickguard and truss rod cover are aftermarket (courtesy of Bryan Boots).

When I feel like taking a four string bass to gigs, or if I want a bass with foam against the bridge, this is usually the bass I turn to. Of course, one gig bass spot is always taken by a Bongo, and it always gets the majority of playing time.

But, variety is the spice of life, right?

Or, at the very least, different. :cool: I like them both for different reasons, so I don't really compare them. I've got two Bongos and one Cort, but I'm glad I've got both.

I take it you don't approve. Oh, well. No skin off of my teeth. I certainly like 'em, and I get plenty of gigs to take them to, so I'm happy.

I'm just not a fan of coffee table basses. Each to their own. This is not a mutual appreciation society where every person who frequents the forum has to like everybody else's basses. Basses are like newborn babies. There are some ugly babies out there, but for some reason everybody says "isn't she/he beautiful". Just once, I'd like to see someone say "that's one uglyass baby you've got there".

I'm certainly not in a bad mood, but I recognize Mark's comment for what it was. I know he thinks the Bongos aren't particularly attractive, and he likes them more than the rest of my basses, so he is essentially calling the rest of my basses ugly. Which is fine with me.

That's cool. I couldn't agree more. I certainly didn't buy two Bongos and a bunch of pointy basses because I was trying to impress anyone.

It's funny--I used to be a big fan of coffee table basses, but now I'm down to one (I don't consider mahogany to be a coffee table bass. :D ).
