Yesterday I did my first major gig with my "new" (bought it second hand) Luke II.
The whole band uses in-ears and, being a sound engineer myself, my mix is VERY true to what the audience are hearing - only with my guitar being higher in volume.
I have had this idea from rehearsals, that when I use the humbucker in bridge (emg 85 ?) it cuts through the mix very nicely and clean, but when I switch to the neck and middle single coils it kind of "vanishes" in the mix.
As far as I can tell it needs more middle to cut though - the bands sound tech told me the same, but he used the words : "it's like you disappear when you play on the first frets".
SO,,,,,,,,,,,,, My rig is as follows : Furman Power Conditioner - ADA MP-1 - TC Electronics G-Force - Mesa 20/20 - ENGL 2x12" pro - Mics 2 x Audio Technica AE3000. The band plays 80's pop/rock cover songs.
Will i get more middle if I raise the single coils ?
Should i change the pick ups to the X-series ?
Should i try the new Tansistion humbucker and see what I can find for single coils (on Lukes new album he has A LOT more middel in his tone) ?
Any advice would be VERY WELCOME !
