I really want a Bongo

I have serious G.A.S. Heres the situation, i have 2 Stingrays but i really want a Bongo 5-string. Will i regret selling my Rays to get a Bongo or will it be better? You know how bsd G.A.S can be right ? ;-)
 
yes, you really do want a Bongo... you owe it to yourself to get one (or 2 or 3)...
 
Both Bongo's I've owned have been spectacular - and every Bongo I've played (about a dozen) has been equally as awesome. Consistent quality control all around. I got super lucky to get a PDN Bongo 5HH. It's killer. I can't see myself not having a Bongo of some kind as my main playing bass.

How much do you love your Rays? That's the question. Technology has developed since the seventies, and one might easily be tempted to put forward arguments for the "betterness" of the Bongo, but at the same time, it will not do the sig Ray sound.

A better idea may be to do every legal thing you can to obtain some more money, and keep one of the Rays, like legally selling your body (I don't know how), legally killing those that you will get the inheritance from (sorry, don't know how) and other legal stuff.

Keep it legal, and buy a Bongo. Simples.
It's a beast, and everyone in his/her right mind must own at least one. I'm going for 36 or 72 of them - haven't decided yet. :)

My third EBMM bass was my Bongo 5 that I ordered in the briefly available True Gold. I had an SR5 first, then an SR4 and thought this was a natural progression. The Bongo is really an amazing instrument in every way. Its so well balanced, has a fantastic neck, amazing playability and the tone is just different enough from my SR5 to completely justify (in my mind at least), having both! Then it was a fretless Sterling and then another SR4. It does become an obsession!

I love my Stingrays but the Bongo's are my favorite. I can't say they will be the same for you as I don't know your style or taste but I am pretty sure you will love them as well. If you can, keep at least 1 Stingray and get a Bongo or save up and simply add one to your bass arsenal!

How about some "Ernie-Leaks" according to incoming 2013., ...Winter NAMM, ... and Bongo?

You know guys, 10th Anniversary of Bongo is approaching? (like it was Yesterday when first Bongo is lunched in 2003.)

I keep getting tempted by that DD2 bongo in the for sale section. Of course, the pickup placement on the 5H is different than on the HS and HH, so it is almost a different instrument sound-wise. It also has a different EQ.

Now, one thing I have noticed about SR5 single H's is that the bridge pickups seem to come in two shapes. One is just a big rectangle,and the other is a smaller rectangle with bumps on the side for the screws. What's the difference? I've seen both styles in both the ceramic and alnico era SR5s.

When I saw SR H I said like wtf - only bridge PU, I like to play the neck position. But when I got my own I realized that PU placement is just perfect. Nothing to say. And now I'm single H worshipper.

Great! Let's do it! My wife won't mind, and one of the kids loves the Bongo.

144 Bongos. Wooooooooow! I see happiness.
(ok, maybe only 108 Bongos, but still)

That spot is the "sweet spot" that everyone loves. The bongo HH and HS have the pickups closer to the bridge, but the single H has it in that sweet spot. That's not to say that the bongo HH doesn't sound awesome, but it doesn't have that sweet spot.
 
I'm with Strummer, a Bongo 5 is just magnificent for weight, balance, 4 band EQ to control the B
 
To bad there is no transparent finish for the Bongo excluding the PDN. I'd like to see a trans blue one.
When I'll be able to buy another bass it will be Bongo 5H.
