Ijust popped in the Metropolis Live in NYC DVD

and I noticed that the bridge on that proto didn't have the cover on it. Also the sparkle on there was sweet. Looked like mystic dream with large metal flakes in it. This has probably been brought up before my time here, but I'm cracked on these guitars and I never really noticed it before. The joint by the headstock looked different too as well as the lack of the inverted bevel on the body. Strat knobs too. The piezo switch placement was different on the one he used to play "Home" with too. Actually neither of them had the arm bevel. Look closer to the body style of Sils on the DVD. Even that PRB 7 he pulled out too. Wow. I never watched this that closely. Time to brush up...hehe

Figured I'd also share a cool memory with you guys too...

I do remember going to the Roseland show earlier in the that tour (metropolis 2000-01) and seeing John pop out with the EBMM proto and not an Ibanez and going "Holy Jit! That's sick!" before I knew he was switching over. Then hearing the piezo tone and going: "Holy Jit! That's sick!". I'm guessing at the very least Ernie1966, Koog and myself are very happy that he did.

Cool story OC. I especially like going to shows watching dude break out some new chit. I saw one of my fav guitarists break out an axis (had a sock on the headstock though ). I think it was to not break his endorsement or whatever and he threw down something serious. These babies are getting out there more and more. Only time will tell how many dudes get a EBMM.

Yeah brothers....I've watched it quite a few times, of late it's been sitting in my DVD player along with the Satch, Vai, and Anthrax DVDs....

It's really interesting to see the evolution of our beloved JP model. All of them (2 6's and a 7) didn't have the contour, or the knobs, and the bridges were slightly different (they looked like the proto that Ernie1966 has). One last thing I forgot to mention was that during "Home" at the show I was at (the earlier NYC date in Feb or March) he pulled an Ibanez out for that song, and he may have also pulled out an Ibanez 7 as well.

I remember seeing them back in 1994 on the Images and Words concert where they played with Galactic Cowboys and it was a pretty great show. I remember thinking that you could put a noodle in John's hand and he would still play great. This of course was during his Ibanez days, but still one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen!
