How many of you love your MM bass because:
- It's supremely accurate and every note falls into place.
- It's a tone monster and every note you play makes you a tone monger.
- It's musically correct to play one.

How many of you love your MM basses because:
- It fills in a space recommended by your interior decorator.
- Adding in a few tablas and gathering drums looks 'international'.
- Your guitar technician suggested changing scratch guards can offset redecorating cost by as much as six weeks, depending on colour and texture.

Personally, I have a silver Gemeinhardt flute nailed to the wall in my living room.
I haven't played it for a long while, rendering the pads useless :-/
However, I clean and restring my basses almost daily. I don't give much thought as to how they look, as long as they sound right.
In performance, I'm more concerned about how I look, than how my MM bass looks.
Technician? I deal with a luthier.

You restring your basses every day? Man what a player you must be. Along with knowing EB basses are the best ya prolly oughta get ya some flats for strings. I can play strings a long time and flats well they will probably never need changed. If I can do that you should get a good week or more out of even the most expensive flats.


As for luthiers. There are more than one in my family. As for EB. I listen, I learn from Jon and those at EB.

I always liked the way they looked and heard so many good things about them. I also often saw/heard them on performances from bands, and totally loved the sound. So after some hard working, I ordered one, withouth even playing one! (although I have played an OLP a few monthes before buying a Musicman).

I cut off those pesky strings and put on some legs, now I am the talk of the neighborhood!!! You see, in my country, status is not shown by the car you drive, the family you marry into or you occupation. It is shown by the number of knobs on your bass coffetable. 5 knobs is a sign of wiseness and riches....

I hope to someday own a Bongo with lots of knobs, to make a clock for my den.

This might complete some sort of circle. The Bongo was probably designed (and named) under the influence of a bong. How else could you conceive such a unique design?

This is *not* a Bongo slam, I think they are fantastic looking instruments and a real breath of fresh air in terms of appearance.
