is it worth changing my humbucker for an EMG MMCS or MMTW ??

I was wondering if its worth buying an EMG MMCS or a MMTW, for my SUB 5. I play all kinds of music, I dont like to limit myself to just one style. So..any comments suggestions are more than welcome.

From what I know, the pickup in the Sub is the same EB pickup that goes in Stingrays minus the preamp. I'd throw the money into something like a Sans Amp. Of course, if my initial statement proves false, forget what I said. Then I'd look into the Seymour Duncan replacement pickup and preamp.

+1 on the 924. I use it and it works with everything. Less money, even more compact [belt-clip wearable] is the LR Baggs 'GigPro' pre-amp. I use it and like it almost as much as the 924.

If you really want an inboard system, the Aguilar OBP is essentially the same as their DB924 outboard. The Basslines 3EQ is very good and it fits inside a StingRay so I assume it fits in an SUB. It uses stacked knobs so you still use your old control cover with the front-facing output jack. Mine is on a StingRay, which already has a battery chamber. I don't know where you put the battery if you start with a passive SUB.

Hi and welcome to the forums! From my limited past experience with EMG pickups (I'm hiding this from Lord Bongo ), they sound rather sterile and bland. Though, I'm guessing that's not the case with the MMCS or MMTW, though. In the end, it's your bass so you can do whatever you'd like with it. Just be sure to keep the stock pickup and/or electronics if you decide to switch them out.

well, how about some bartolini pickups, though where I live, apparently no one sells them, I'd have to order them, or something.
