Is mahogany more sensitive to temp/humidity changes?

Is mahogany more susceptible to temperature and humidity changes than maple? It has been said that mahogany is more porous than than maple, and that's why the BFR JP6 has a finished neck.

I ask, because in humidifying my guitar room, my BFR JP6 neck got all out of whack and needed a truss rod tweak. My 20th Ann. Silo and bare-bones/no-option JP6 didn't budge.

I don't know for sure if it's related, but I have lots of mahogany necked guitars as well as maple and birdseye maple. They all need a tweak once in a while. It's the nature of the wood in general and each piece is different. I would call adjusting truss rods part of normal maintenance, no worries.

interesting question, the unsealed necks do require a little more attention. Worth it as they are phenomenal. I wasn't aware that the BFR necks are mahogany though...

You're probably quite right...I must have been thinking of the Luke BFRs.

Yes, only the BFR JP has a finished mahogany neck - the others are still maple...
