Is this hairline cracks neck joint serious? Majesty Maple Top.

Hey guys, a while cleaning my guitars I saw this hairline crack on the neck joint of my Majesty. Do you think is the paint, or it may be the wood? Has never been dropped, hit or left my humidity controlled room.

To me, it seems a crack in the finish that's not affecting wood.
BUT....as we do not know as and why it started, I would prefer to be sure that it stopped and will never go on, ruining paint more.
That can be achieved applying a small quantity of CA glue and then cleaning, sanding and polishing, but of course it's a kind of job that must be done by someone who knows how to do it.

Dang. I should not be having to do that kind of stuff on a guitar this expensive. Really wonder what happened there.

Unfotunately finish cracks are common enough. They happen for various reasons and scenarios. They are cosmetic and won't affect the playing of the guitar.

I agree with you.
Unfortunately, as fogman said, finish cracks are a common issue that can arise also on expensive guitars...temperature variations can be a root cause.
Did you buy the guitar new? Maybe you could ask a replacement or refund under warranty.
In that case, I would contact EBMM Customer Support to ask for an advice.

As a few other have mentioned it is likely cosmetic and is a common issue with guitars. But if it can be covered by warranty it is more than worthwhile looking into.

I would get in touch with Music Man right away to make sure that it is still covered by warranty (if time hasn't already lapsed).

It always sucks when this happens. But as long as you plan on keeping it forever then you will eventually just accept it and live with it. But if you still have active warranty I would at least try to get them to do something about it, it’s always worth a try.

Your guitar has polyester finish, which is supposed to be more solid.
Polyurethane is better for things that need to be a little more flexible according to this website.

And the guitar neck is flexible. Maybe that could be a factor?
I don’t know, I have also seens cracks in various places on polyurethane finish as well, but as to which one would be less prone to cracking I don't know. It could be the quality of the finish itself that was produced.

I thought EBMM used polyurethane across the board, and I could've sworn that CS told me a long time ago that my JPs in fact had polyurethane and could therefore be polished with high end car detailing products (which is true and works great). Is there something about the Majesty line specifically that they changed to polyester since it's a neck-through if true?

I don't know, I just searched and looked on different Majesty guitars and the specs. And the ones I looked at said high gloss polyester. I don't know what model you have, but I am sure you can find the specs for it who knows, maybe your Majesty is different than the ones I looked at.
