Is this mod. doable?

There's a Silo at the local shop that does have me tempted. It's not 100% of what I want but could be close.

It has piezo but no trem. Is it possible to put a trem on? If so how difficult a task would this be? I've never modded a guitar in my life but am quite handy.

I imagine you'd have to route out the body to make room for the unit, springs and anchor- in my experience it can be done, but you're a braver man than I if you intend to do it yourself... and to get a pro to do it can be quite expensive because of the ammount of work involved (or so I'm told, I should say...)

Possible, but really not worth it unless you know a highly-skilled luthier with proper tools and the guitar is priced very cheap. You'd be looking at $300 minimum for a good job, and the guitar would take big hit in resale value. As far as DYI- there are certainly better choices for guitars to f**k up as you get your skills together. If you want a trem, keep looking for a guitar with a trem.

Why bother?
I'd keep the piezo instead of the trem.
Hardtail piezos sound great and vintage trems are more of a headache than a help (IMHO)

Installing the tren would mean:
a) significant alterations to the existing body
b) the waste of a perfectly good piezo bridge and accompanying electronics.

Fogman, Just buy the damn guitar and get on with the love affair....

If you were as tentative about hooking up with a chick as you are about buying the EB, the movie "40 year old virgin" would be named after you!

I love it! A virtual mod...easily reversible too!

It sounds like too much work.
I'd rather wait 3 months then potentially damage a beautiflul guitar.

I would think that adding a trem would be a huge job that would be fairly costly.

Foggy, I think in the end you'd end up trashing it. Just keep looking for what you want.

I'm guessing that 2007 you'll find that special guitar for you. Though you have like a 1,000,000 posts here.
