And it looks like I may have the funds to finally buy one soon. I thought about getting a dual hb. Then I went and found an amazing sterling in an orange finish, but it's a single h. I hate decisions!
IMO, the question is: What do you like about the StingRay 4? If it is the original SR 4 sound, then I'd stick with the single H. If you'd like to have some of that traditional vibe and then a lot more options, go for a multi-pickup configuration.
If you can check out all of them, do so, even if it means spending several hours travelling around a bit.
My take on it is this: I like the well known SR4 sound, and I don't like to have too many options when playing live -- so prefer the single H. If I want something with more options, then I'd rather have a look at someting completely different like a Bongo.

If you've always wanted a Stingray, you should let the Sterling pass on by, and reach for your dream. I'd start with a single H, though. The classic sound cannot be beat.
