Hello everyone, first time here.

I'm a guitarist looking to purchase my first Music Man guitar, specifically a John Petrucci 6. I had some questions I was hoping people here might be able to help me with.

Basically, I'm dead set on having an ebony fretboard on a John Petrucci 6. I understand that the standard fretboard is rosewood and that the ebony fretboards are apparently only available as part of the 'stealth black' option, but I don't want the stealth black finish - I would really like the ebony fretboard on a JP6 with a white finish. So my question to you guys is do you think they'd be able or willing to do that for me?

The overall specs I wanted are:

- John Petrucci 6
- Left handed
- Piezo setup
- White
- Matching headstock
- Ebony fretboard (if possible)

Considering the fact that this guitar would almost definitely have to come straight from the factory, do you guys think there's a chance to get this option? I know some guitar manufacturers are far more accommodating with non-stock options or special orders than others. This is my first time dealing with EBMM so I don't know what to expect. I live in the ass-end of the world (Australia) and Music Man guitars, dealers and information are extremely hard to come by. As I mentioned, I'm also a left-handed player, so the possibility of walking into a shop and playing a LH Music Man is literally zero.

Anyway, thanks for your time. Any opinions would be helpful.

Unfortunately, no dice on a custom order. You cannot get a white JP with ebony at this time. All your other criteria can be met.

As far as I know, there's no such an option. But just to be sure, contact the guys... even if you can't have this exact model, you can expect the best customer support in the world.

If you can locate a JP in the limited run Black Sugar, those had roasted necks with Ebony fret boards. It's not white, but you'll get the ebony your looking for.

Hope this helps, Glenn |B)

There was also a Limited Edition made some years ago, which was sold in Europe only as I recall, which had an ebony board and black hardware, but the finish was Pearl Red Burst (a couple days ago a fellow forumite posted a video playing that guitar). I think your best bet is either to get one with an ebony board and refinish it, or ditch the ebony and get a white one. Cheers!
Edit: I found a link Music Man USA John Petrucci JP6 PRB - Pearl Redburst - Ebony Fretboard Limited Edition at ProMusicTools.com
