i am thinking about increasing the shim on my axis and was wondering how thick is the original and how much thicker i can go without fretting out on bends. any recomendations. thanks

The original in my EVH was thinner than the thinnest guitar pick. I used sheilding foil for my new shim and probably increased the thickness by 3 or so layers of the foil; not much at all.

It takes trial and error but you'll get it eventually. It only takes a very small amount of increase for dramatic change though.

Ain't that the truth - a shim the thickness of a matchbook cover will radically change your entire set up... Fun for the whole family :)

It depends on which shim was used. There are 3 sizes....010 .015 and .020
