JP BFR and Rosewood Neck - Koa or Quilt?

I also wanted a Koa at first but it was too expensive for me. I think I've decided on a Bahama Blue Burst in Quilt after looking at this:

I think the blue will make the rosewood pop and stand out really nicely as a contrast to the blue, just as it did with the green :)
 
Solar look very "red" from the pics I can find. I'm not a fan of red guitars. Brown, honey, tobacco, etc. are fine. Heh, first world problems.
 
BBB looks very dark. I have one, and you have to have very good light to actually see it's blue.

I love that guitar but keep in mind that his Koa was special made and has a different finish than the regular Koa's. I think his had a Cherry Burst veneer of some sort so it was the Koa finish (Island Burst currently) + a little Cherry Burst.
 
Koa wins. Would have preferred chrome hardware. Gold hardware never lasts. But I think the koa, mahogany, rosewood combo will be sweet.

I read through that guitar's NGD thread. According to his description, it is a standard Island Burst finish and Koa top, but it has a rosewood veneer in between the koa and alder back, so it has the brown perimeter around the figured top, as you would find on a Cherry Burst/Maple BFR. So the difference is not the finish, but the wood beneath the koa top.

My bad. You are correct.
 
I'd personally go for koa. Not only would it look killer but it would be really collectible as well. I'm considering one personally.
 
Killer is 100% correct. So really the big difference would be the full mahogany body unlike the alder+mahogany that Misha has.
Benji makes a great point too! All that said, I'm a little biased, once you go Koa... You don't go back? Who am I kidding every MM is amazing! :)
