JP13 pickups

I recently joined the Ernie Ball ranks and acquired a JP13. LOVE IT but....the pickups are very "expressive", just like all reviews and ads state. Every movement of both hands creates unwanted sounds/noise. I've used Duncan's for years without this issue. Anybody have any thoughts?

Hello Mr Shred and welcome to the forum. I'd say play the DiMarzios for a while and see if you just naturally adjust your playing to control unwanted noises. I play with alot of gain, and I try to explain to my acoustic playing friend that half the battle of switching to electric is learning how to control unwanted noises...and how to make cool noises. I bet the same can be said for switching to a different set of pickups, in your case.

Depending on what kind of noise you're getting there's a way to reduce or eliminate it. Every single JP I've ever had, I've always silenced the springs in the Trem Cavity by inserting a piece of foam into every spring the length and size of the spring. Thrown a Fretwrap or a piece of foam under the strings behind the nut, and also made sure every screw was properly tightened. Those all cause unwanted resonance especially during the recording process and that's how I fix them.

If the noise you're talking about is feedback and the like when you're playing a higher output set of pickups, just work on your right hand technique and muting the strings a bit.

What duncans were you using before? My guess is, you set your rig to work with low output pickups, and the illuminator is simply too loud/hot for your rig.
