I have found that guitar to be on sale in a german music store and it has the piezo option !!!.

Looks like a good deal to me considering the normal price they're asking, so I am considering to maybe get it.

BUT: like I stated in another thread, I would usually use an EBMM piezo model for Pop- and Country Rock contexts (Eagles, Keith Urban and the likes).
Is the JP able to cover these grounds?
And, coming from Strat- and Luke necks, would there be too much difference neckwise?

I do not like thin necks as on Ibanez RGs for instance and JP once had a signature model from them before he joined the family ;) so I am a little uncertain, but I know that EBMM necks are the best out there, so I guess what's good for Mr. P cannot be too bad for me

Waddaya think?

The JP is versatile, but I'm not sure how it would do country. As far as the neck goes its pretty thin. It feels thinner than my old prestige RG neck was, so you might want to go with something other than the JP? How about another Luke, or an Albert Lee Model? I'm sure some of the forumers here can tell you about the AL, and how good it is for chicken pickin.

Ouch! I'm afraid that in this case, the JP and me will not become friends... :(

Yes, that's something I thought about! I'm even considering a Silo Special, so I will need to do some testing in that direction.

If the JP's neck really THAT thin, then I will refrain from that model.

Thanks for your input (also to SonicShredder)!!!

You might wanna try it before you discard the JP as an option.

The thing is that I really do not like those flat/thin necks, because I usually put my thumb over the top edge of the neck (I mean where the E6 string is) to either play bass notes in certain chord shapes or mute the E6 and A5 string.
I think I am more a traditional kind of player although I do have several DT albums and really like their songwritimg and JP's playing and the sound he gets with his EBMM!

Well, if I get the opportunity I will give the JP6 a try, but chances are, that I will not be adding one to my arsenal...

why don't you actually play one before you make such a drastic decision over what a few people are telling you over the internet?

Well, as a matter of fact, I would like to try out one but here in Germany only very shops seem to have them in stock. This situation is even worse for the AL, so I count on the fellowship of the forumites and ask for their experience regarding this model.

If they all agree on the fact that the JP has thin neck and I really don't like to play thin necks, then I can say, it is not very likely that this guitar will work FOR ME.

I am sure it is a great guitar, don't get me wrong, but the neck makes the difference for me.
Look at it the other way round: if you prefer thinner necks like the Ibanez Prestige or the JP and you would have to switch to the neck of, let's say my '54 Goldtop Reissue, then you would be able to play on it, but you just would't really feel comfortable.

IMHO, I was a medium/thick neck player. The JP is so "ergonomic" that the guitar actually puts YOU into a position to play that neck better. It was only a short time getting used to it and I can play FASTER on that guitar then any other guitar. I still have my '59 junior (GRAIL). And going back and forth between them is no big deal. Don't make the thin neck an issue. The JP is one of the best "fits like a glove" guitars ever.
