JP6 or Silo? help the indecisive one choose

well, i am very close to ordering a guitar, and thought i was for sure on the JP6, but as you all know, it can be a tough decision sometimes. i know all of the different specs on these guitars, but i would like some input from people who actually own/have played these guitars. i know you all will agree that i should get both, and with time i will, but for now i can only have one :(

i am a metal lead guitarist (megadeth, judas priest, iron maden, etc.) i would love a floating trem, but a silo can be set to float easily. i am a 24 fret guy, so both are ok there. i would just go play them both, but theres nowhere around here to play both and compare.

also, foggy, can i see a white silo with black ice or moonstone? thanks bud

Based upon your musical interests, I'd say get the JP. I played both about two months ago thru a Bogner XTC half stack, and felt the JP was better for heavier riffs, while the Silo was a more versatile guitar.

Neither is bad, just my opinion that they do different things, and were made to excel at different things.
 
thanks fog. i am not necessarily ALL metal, but it is where my heart is. versatility, however, is important, because it will just be this and my ESP, so i would like 2 guitars to have lots of possibilities
 
^haha, i am already selling my strat and OLP. i really like the ESP though, plus its the mustaine signature ;)
 
Unless its a 20th Silo, JP all the way. The regular silos don't seem to have the girth or the finesse that the JP does. I play all styles, but primarly metal and the Petrucci works well. Here are some recordings of it in an agressive style (recorded through a Mark IV) if you wanna check it out. http://www.myspace.com/hammerbros Check out "Legion" for a good example. However, if you can give up the extra 2 frets, the Luke with the EMG 85 is great for metal. That is what I use primarly now with my band.
 
its not so much the extra frets, as it is the different scale. it is just more comfortable for me
 
I vote JP, but have never played the Silo. Too bad you can't find both and try them first. Have you listened to both of them from the Score DVD/CD? Maybe that can help a bit. I like the JPs loaded.
 
First of all, if you do go silo, you need to swap out the bridge pup immediately, its not hot enuff nor is it right for that type of stuff, now with all that said I like the silo better, I like the neck better and I hate floating bridges -
 
I will go for the Silo and moreover there is one for sale now on ebay with a floyd :D

get the best of both worlds !!
 
I will also go for the silo. Somehow I find the controls for the JP are too far down...
 
Buy both. Seriously. You will anyway. We all enter a denial phase at first "just one EBMM is all I need" but inevitably if you have to choose between two, you WILL end up with both. You might as well be honest with yourself up front.... ;)
