I have a JP7 BFR with almost straight neck, low saddles following neck radius with an action that vary from 0.050 on the lower strings to 0.040 on the higher strings. That's how I set all of the JPs I have/had. The guitar sounds great, except from the D string which heavily buzz plucked open. From the first fret onwards the guitar sounds good.

What do you think it is? The nut maybe? I bought the guitar brand new 3 years ago and it has its original compensated nut. What should I do to remove the buzz?

Thanks!

May need a new nut. If it buzzes on the open string and not on the fretted note, that is likely a low/worn notch and the string is vibrating on the first fret. I have a Luke 3 getting worked on right now for the same thing.

Yes, low nut slot. you can have slot filled and recut. Or nut replaced. You can get it evaluated by your local shop. EB can sell you a new nut. I just did this on one of my JPs
