I just noticed that the of all the forums on the EB website, we the bass players are more active than any of the other forums. Does this mean that we are more passionate about our craft than our beloved cousins, the guitar player? (no offence jon. Please don't let that dog of yours come and stick me with that needle. I'm scared of needles.) :D
 
guitar players know two things. 1- how to land chicks 2- how to play every note on the fretboard twice in under two seconds.

I tihnk MM bases are more popular than MM guitars. And MM bassists are more loyal to MM, whereas MM gutarists might like other brands more.
 
There are a few dedicated EBMM guitar players out there, of course, but mostly, when you think Ernie Ball Musicman, you think: BASS.

If this were a Gibson forum, no doubt the guitarists would be much more active than would the bassists.

I have to agree with you on this one. I just happened to come across an EBMM JP-6 at a store and thought it was just a run of the mill guitar. I was more fascinated with the mystic dream flip-flop paint scheme than anything else. Then I sat down and played it. Man, it was the most amazing instrument I ever played. I am very picky about the guitars I play due to the neck feel. I only had one guitar at the time which was a custom Ibanez. EBMM changed that and quickly. I currently own 4 JP's and a Bongo. We (guitarists) love the EBMM's, but it is a very hard sell on some others because they believe in the Gibby, F*^der hype. Some people would rather play a guitar with a baseball bat neck that goes out of tune every three seconds.....to each their own.

I agree, when you think EBMM, people think strings or Bass. That is a very true statement. Hopefully, with the SUB1 guitar and NAMM, more people will become believers and do themselves a favor and buy an EBMM guitar or Bass. Believe me, their guitars are the best out there. I believe in their products and in their service....second to nobody! :cool:

Thats funny! I guess thats why I have to turn down gigs(because of other gigs) when some of my guitarist friends(educated folk) can barely get by. I didn't start on guitar(I started on string bass when I was 10) and I don't see it as a choice for me. I'm a bassist not because of my lack of talent but because of my personality. It's who I am. I would rather support the band then be out front all the time. When it's my time to shine I'll rip it up, but thats not all I'm about. I'm about the groove and making people happy. I get paid to do something I love and live for.

I'm such a failure... :D

I am a guitarist, yet I too play bass. The running joke for us six stringers is this:

How many guitarists does it take to change a light bulb?

Answer: Who knows, we keep stealing each others light....hehehehe

To be fair, it was Bassplayr who got me a great deal on my last EBMM JP-6 purchase......and guitarists can be prima donnas sometimes....lol :cool:

...after reading this thread, and your observation made, it becomes pretty apparent that the only reason that this side is more active because you guys are just sitting here talking sh*t about the guitar players. If you stopped, the server load on ernieball.com would decrease by 64%. :D

Ah, we love you guys, even if the feeling isn't reciprocated. :p

Well, Darrell, you will note that I do not take part in the Guitar Players discussion, as some of my best friends are guitar players.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

What cracks me up are those jackass guitar players & their logic......(it has 2 less strings....it's easier) but most guitar players can't play bass.........they play guitar on the bass. They really don't know what a bass line is. IT IS A DIFFERENT INSTRUMENT. Besides guitar players are a dime a dozen. I go to 2 open jams a week...............tons of guitar players & like 3 or 4 of us bass players. Hey.....I get more gigs because bassists are in demand..........seems like everybody else want to be a guitar hero. Guitarists write all the songs? Tell that to Paul McCartney & Roger Waters.
