Just got my sterling! may need a refret :-(

Hi guys just got a killer trans re sterling around a 94 model I believe. Love the bass but some of the frets are in really bad shape. I live in Al. and There is an ernie ball dealer near by but there "guitar repairman" is a local music teacher who works on instruments at night. I dont know if I can trust someone with this job if im not positively sure he can do it. Any suggestions on where I could possibly send my bass for a refret/fret crowning? Any help would be greatly appreciated

if EB does do refrets on their basses at the factory what does something like that cost?
