on how to make it less noticeable? The guitar fell out of the case today and got a big nick in the very front of the guitar... made me mad to say the least. It's a red pearl burst, I was thinking using some dark red marker would hopefully make it less noticeable.

Makes me mad but I guess sometimes **** happens.
 
No I could take one though.... it's deep enough to where you can see the white underneath.

There's not really any fixes for nicks on finishes aside from refinishing the guitar, huh?
 
When I read the topic I thought you meant you just stole your JP6! :D

Well I used a black sharpie to fill in the white mark. It looks better now, it's just saddening that I was trying to take the utmost care of this beautiful guitar and now it's got a scratch on it. At least the problem is only cosmetic.

I had really planned on keep immaculate care of this thing, 'cause my old ibanez is really beat to hell. Oh well. From now on I'm gonna make sure the latches are all closed.

I really want to buy a 7 string jp in mystic dream and with piezo. If I scratched that, I might die.

Just found a small ding on the front of my Mystic Dream JP6 that was new in January. As the people say, it's bound to happen.

What annoys me is that I seem to ding each guitar once fairly early in it's life and then keep them the same for years. I have a small ding on the front of my Black Sparkle as well. So far the Autumn Red has stayed undinged but I'm gigging that one tonight for the first time!:eek:

I suppose it reminds me of being a kid at school. You'd always start a new school year with a new pair of trousers (pants), and you could guarantee that within the first few days you'd fall over in the playground and put your knee through the material! Seeing this from the other side as a parent now.:D
 
Thinking about damaging your guitar, the first thought that popped into my head was, "Does it still play?"

Of course it does, so that's a bonus.

Honestly, though, you have to realize that the only way to keep your guitar absolutely 100% Mint Condition is to never touch it, lock it away in a temperature-controlled room, and never show it the light of day. Now, that would be a completely horrible thing to do, right? These things that we create, as human beings, are meant to be used and with that use comes cosmetic differences throughout the years.

Don't beat yourself up over something like this. Road Rash shows that you are actually playing the thing, not just buying it and saying that you do. I'm sure you'll be more mindful of those latches from now on, though. :)

As far as filling it in, I agree with Quarter with the idea of using Nail Polish to fill in the gap.
