Keep or return? Majesty Maple Top.

I just got this Majesty delivered.

I’m… Unsure about the finish. The guitar plays like a dream, but the lighter stripe in the middle looks… weird?

What do you guys think?

I like it. Every piece of wood is unique. That one particularly so. It looks like it was part of a tree. That’s exactly why I would keep it. But that’s just me.

Maybe the angle isn't showing it off, but I don't see anything out of the ordinary and think the top looks great and multi-dimensional. Really awesome guitars and hope you enjoy it.

I like it as well. However, that kind of thing is purely about what *you* like.

If you don't like it, you don't want to regret keeping it later.

I have no issue with it.
I tend to prefer grains with some character. It makes the guitar more unique.

That is a great top! As DrKev said, each top is unique. All personal preference though, but I would keep that one!

Book match is actually pretty good. My “issue” was the clear/light stripe in the middle of the guitar. But after talking to some people and reading these responses I’ve started to not care about it. Guitar is a dream to play. Only thing that is close is Aristides.

I’m probably going to start liking the stripe in a week.

Personally, I'd swap it for one with less strings. lol.

I’m more comfortable on 7 string guitars, weirdly . Not even about the range but size of fretboard.

Also it is really not that noticiable. That picture is the angle and light position where it pops the most.

Yah if it's a gift, I'm pretty sure over time, you'll over look the book match. If it plays great and you overall love it. Make them happy, keep and love it for that it is man.

I’ve seen some PRS guitars with tops like that. One section of the piece of wood is a lighter color and they book match it so that lighter area runs down the middle. I think it looks very cool and distinctive.
