Hey guys
I think I've gone insane - I have a guitar that I want to buy - it's not an EBMM (this is not the insane part, believe it or not). I've been trying to figure out how to afford it, and (this is the mental part) have been considering selling EBMM guitars to do it (including my EVH which I have previously said would be buried with me) - please talk me out of doing anything I will regret,
dave

is it that $100,000.00 les paul that dude on ebay is claiming belonged to les paul? what is it?

It's not a Les Paul, but is hideously expensive - enough that I would have to sell my EVH, Sil Special and Ovation acoustic, plus add cash. Even saying it makes me feel ill...

You just came up with the best reason not to do it... it sounds like an impulse buy, take the time to think about it before selling your gear for one guitar...

If later we're able to say we told you so, then we're entitled to call you
STUPID!!!!

Wow, that would have to be one hell of a guitar. You're giving up three different guitars to get it ... that's a lot of lost versitility!

Tough to talk you out of it until we know what "it" is ...

If you want us to talk you out of it, could you tell us what guitar is doing this to you??

You haven't even sold your stuff yet, and you're already regretting it. Don't do it unless you can do it 100% guilt free. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, but you shouldn't do it now. Your head is not in the right place. (IMHO, take it for what it's worth.)

How many times have you heard some guy say: "Yeah, I remember I used to have one of those <whatever> back in the day, I never should have sold that thing." Don't be that guy :)

no way i can give my opinion w/out knowing what the would be new guitar is......

There is only one guitar maker I know that has a guitar that I would buy. However, I would NEVER sell my JP's to afford it. His guitars are strictly hand made all the way custom and it comes with a hefty price tag as well. These would be more considered an art piece more so than an everyday player. I just don't see the reason why I should or would buy one at this point. I suck as it is and don't need a high dollar axe sitting there to prove I still suck.

Anywho.....impulse is what it sounds like and you are at a cross road. If you had one doubt....and you do because you want us to "talk you out of it" then the purchase is not worth it. Besides.....you can put that kind of $$$ into something else and still have the EBMM's to enjoy. I think you should keep your collection of EBMM's because they have never failed you. Plus....EBMM's are an addiction, you can't cure it....there is no way......so stay with us and wallow in the joy of being an EBMM owner. My 2 pennies.

On the other hand, sometimes the strongest lessons in life are the ones learned the hard way.

There's no substitute for a bad experience. All the good advice and good intentions aside.

Sell em all........I'm sure some of us will help take them off your hands.

Yes but for half the price so you can make a clean break to your new misrable guitar playing! :D

Tell us what guitar it is. I think Big Poppa would be interested too in that, I guess.
Well and he knows you come back to EBMM for sure-the full circle:-))

My guess 1. Electric then Tom Anderson
2. Acoustic then Taylor Koa

Right?

I had a Tom Anderson once. Great axe.....but, the JP just had the feel and the tonal difference was about the same IMHO. I liked the switcheroo system, but I find that I don't miss it at all. My friend owned a TA for years and picked up one of my Pets and was just floored. He bought one off the rack at the local GC and has not played the TA since. Not to knock the TA...great axe, but the JP is just perfect for me.

I think he is looking at something a bit more pricey than a TA. But, I could be wrong. So, what are you thinking of getting that would make you want to sell all your EB's?
