I think the white S.U.B.s are the nicest looking ones. I played a white S.U.B.5 a couple months back that was smokin. I almost picked it up as a backup.

Whenever Im playing bass my mom makes a point to say that i have such long fingers. They arent extremely long, just skinny, since im a skinny dude.

haha... yeah, they definitely make playing electric bass easier, though i must say for economy of motion, you guys with shorter fingers have it a lot easier. reach isn't everything. now, for upright you'd think it would help too, and it does to a certain extent, but the advantage upright players have with shorter, thicker fingers is that they don't have to work quite as hard to get a really big sound. i really worked for a long time at keeping a very focused, compact hand positioning so that i didn't have any 'flying fingers' like i see some players using. that just bugged me.

i lucked out in finding that bass. i wanted a fretless stingray for a long time but couldn't afford one or find one in my area. i found that one on eBay late last year and snatched it up for an insanely cheap price. it isn't an active model, which would have been a true miracle to find, but i am very pleased at how dynamic and responsive even the passive model is. very punchy, very distinct, very vocal.
i do have one question for you guys 'in the know', since we're discussing this particular bass. how does the passive tone control with the discrete treble and bass work in these basses without a preamp or active tone circuit of some sort? i honestly have never seen that type of circuit before in a bass. i am used to the standard volume/volume/tone setup, or some variation of that. just a rambling thought...
