Lower Action

Hi Guys,
Im thinking of lowering the action of my bass, do you think GC is the good place to do that, or I can simply do it by myself? Does anyone lower the action before, maybe can help me with this?

Are you Johan's twin brother, or is this Johan using a second ID? Just curious, since it's clear you both share the same first language, based on the similar grammar and spelling quirks (and the same location and registration date). Lowering the action is a matter of setup, to which there are several threads here that cover how to setup your bass. I believe it's also explained in detail elsewhere on the Ernie Ball/Musicman website. My only knowledge of GC is from online forums, but from what I've heard I wouldn't let them setup a folding chair, let alone a Stingray.

we're different person

but we are living nearby, we went to same church, we serve in the same church, we both went to the same school, and we bought our stingray almost together (1 week different)

to clarify it
in our SF branch GC, we have this guy name Ed Van Ness who is a certified luthier and he has worked in this GC for a while now, he's an experienced guy ... so probably technik is wondering can he adjust the action on his own, or rather have someone else doing it first?

On a tenuously-related note, a few years ago I was working as a barman in Oxford. We got a lot of tourists coming in, particularly Americans (nothing against Americans, obviously) who often ordered a disgusting concotion known as a "Black and Tan". I'd just finished explaining to one customer why he might get a funny reaction in some bars if they asked for one (the Black and Tans were a regiment of conscripted British prisoners who served in Ireland in the early 20th century and were, on the whole, pretty nasty to the Irish catholics... some people are still sensitive to that), when a group of American tourists came in and ordered "Irish Car Bombs" all round...

It's usually an ale and guinness.

Put half a pint of beer in the pint glass (Bass ale would seem appropriate ), put the beer on the guinness drip tray, bend a teaspoon so you can hold it in the glass and pour the guinness onto the spoon very slowly with the spoon about a cm above the beer, raising the spoon as the glass fills.

This way, you can get the Guinness to sit on top of the beer. It looks almost impressive.

Never heard of advocaat. What's that?

The best thing I've ever had Midori in was a Hand Grenade in New Orleans. When we asked the guy at the bar what was in it, he said "Some kind of melon liquer with everclear!". One's all you need for the whole night!

It's dutch, it's yellow, is made out of eggs and is notionally alcoholic. Don't actively seek it out!

Dirty martinis, generally with Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire, Noilly Pratt and I'm not so fussy on the olive brine. Nothing with "martini" written on it should go anywhere near a drink called a "martini"
Real Ales, decent hoppy ones, Shepherd and Neame, Black Sheep, Hook Norton, Batemans, etc.
Some belgian trappist beers, but not often.
Czech lagers Budvar, Staropramen and the like.
I've been known to partake in the odd pint of premium lager.
Chunky red wines... Rhones, Argentinian... Norton Privada rules
Pretty much any white that's old enough to have lost that grassy taste.
Nyx, a greek dessert wine.
Most single malts. I like Islay malts a lot. Some blends.
Port at Christmas.
Champagne.
Bloody Marys for special breakfasts.

I am not an alcoholic. I find meetings boring.

I'll be in Jamaica all next week knockin' back a few Stripes!

I'll also be bringing back some of their coconut rum. It's a full 80 proof and much better that any that I can get here. I goes great with the new Diet Coke w/Lime.

I would put a list of what I like, but I better save that for the alchoholics forum! No reason to take up that much space here.

Mobay - se if you can get yeself a bottle of 7 yr old Havana Club - it's Cuban (duh!), but they had it in Tobago last year so JA should have it.

Yum.

I visited Cuba a few years back and the 8 of us (last gasp lads holiday) drank a bottle of 3yr old HC a day each.

And lord knows how many R&J Churchills.

As far as setups go in the bay area:
i forget the name of the place, but there's a repair shop (in the mission???) where satriani and all the big boys take their stuff. also the guitar tech from either 3rd eye blind or matchbox 20 will do housecall setups for you. he posts on criagslist a lot when hes not on tour ...
