I've got this Jaco feature on dvd. It's great, of course. The only time I've seen/heard him play a J with a maple/fretted board too, though on that dvd (vhs at the time it was made, of course) he said he most often practiced on a fretted, to preserve the board on his beloved fretless. Considering his fretless mastery, that's pretty amazing. Of course, he probably spent more time gigging than practicing ... 'til it went bad, anyway. Tragic story.
