Maple or rosewood (did a search, didnt find anything)

Well i did a search and didnt find a poll between the two.

What do you prefer on MM basses, maple or rosewood fingerboard?

I think the difference between the two is minimal at best. The are subtle differences between the two, but its not night and day IMO.

So go for looks then. You must have a preference.

For most people its not so much sound as it is look. I used to prefer maple over rosewood but now they are pretty much even in my book. I would like to see a maple board bongo though.

Depends on the color. My black SR5 looks better w/ rosewood but my Trans. Purple looks good w/ maple.

I like Rosewood. Maple is too tinny when slapping & popping for me.

And I got one ... see the photos on the database thread. Sure looks like Ebony to me ...

Or ebony, or pau ferro.

Why?

Because I like the visual contrast of light strings against a dark fingerboard.

I also prefer bursts in the red / gold / brown family as opposed to a light colored body.

Think of this: A Stradivarius violin with a maple board.

It just wouldn't look right, know what I mean?
