Hello guys,
I am looking for information as to when Ernie Ball started to paint headstocks to match the body color?
Did it start in the mid 70s or the 90s.
Anyone???

We implemented the option to order matching
headstocks at the January 2000 namm show. Their may be some basses released before that
with matching stocks but it was not considered official until 2000.

Thanks

Derek

Derek,
Thanks for the info.
Do you know if there were any headstocks painted prior to Ernie Ball's aquisition? (The Musicman Co.)
Regards

I don't know the definitive answer to your question, but I've seen a lot of pre-EB Stingrays and I've never seen one with a matching headstock.
