I was actually referring to the paint job on the finished guitar. That finish looks pretty good, so I assume the bass, once finished, would have the same level of competency.
I do question posting it for sale before it's done, though, I agree.
And, to me, poor eBay skills does not a bad instrument make.
As for the price--show me a Superman symbol shaped bass for cheaper.

Just because it's not worth $1900 to you doesn't mean a one of a kind instrument isn't worth $1900. Hell, I know 5 people who are Superman freaks (scary, but true)--none of them are bass players, though. And, Jerry Seinfeld and Shaq are both bonafide Superman nuts.
IMHO, asking $1900 for that bass is no more out of line than any other builder asking $2000 for a custom instrument. I think the prefab neck is probably a poor choice, but thats what it's got.
At the end of the day, "tacky" doesn't equal "dreadful."
