Hey guys, If you remember from my last post I am need of a new head for my Gallien Krueger Backline half stack, so I took a trip to GC to check out a few of my options. After a little while I found a tiny amp that blew me away. I shoulda listened to spectorbassguy when he recommended Mesa Boogie. I plugged into The Mesa Boogie M-Pulse Venture combo amp. I never heard myself or my stingray sound so good, so clear and well defined. This thing is tiny considering its packed with 600watts. The price tag is a bit heavy, it was $1600 but I'm sure since im a preffered customer I can work em down a little or maybe find a used one. Just wanted to say spectorbassguy was right for implying that I should go for a Mesa, it definatly sounds amazing and I cant wait to take it home with me.

congratulations on finally discovering mesa gear.

but don't count on any discounts, mesa boogie does not allow discounts on their gear. All dealers charge the exact same price all the time, the only way they can deal is if the piece is either damaged (in that case they get authorization from mesa) or discontinued (again, authorization for discount).

any dealer who claims to have better prices on mesa boogie, is either blowing out their stock, or is a liar, or is about to stop carrying them because they will lose their contract with mesa at that point.

but make them throw in a bunch of stuff for free, that's where you get em.

I've got an SWR wk400/4 but im seriously considering switching to Mesaboogie. Been listening to lots of neil you + crazy horse lately, and although it ain't technical the bass sound is great, really snarly. What would be the equivalent head against the SWR?

Hey MM Scarborough, I think the most similar head, based mostly on wattage would either be the mesa boogie walkabout or the M-Pulse 360. Heres a link to their bass products (click here) I know the combo amp that will be my next purchase is also available as just a head, check that out here and as far as im concerned that owns lol

Why spend 1600 on a vintage orange when you can get one for 760 shipped.

cheers guys, you've really got me thinking. Where can I get a messa head in the UK, my budget is around £500, but that is top limit and Il have to sell my SWR first.
