Hi all, thanks for the welcome. Apologies if this has been discussed and resolved before but I'd like to try a black pick-guard on my all white SR5 (see avitar) and I'd also like my pickup cover to match.

What are my options here for a relatively inexpensive and easily reversible colour change (i.e. I don't want to buy a new pickup)?

Any advice appreciated.

That pickup on the SR5 is basically a "unit" and the cover won't come off, at least not without some work - and some danger to your pickup.

I believe you can buy a new pickup with a black cover (I may be wrong) from EB, but you have to also exchange the old one.

Maybe you'll get lucky like I did and someone will offer to trade a black pickup for your white one. That's what happened when I posted something like this here. Psychicpet Pete chimed in and we worked out a trade.

Unfortunately, I don't think this option falls under the "easily reversible" parameter.

thanks, I get the picture. I think a thin black plastic cover is the answer. I'll let you know how it works out if I can get one made.

Dont suppose you have access to a vacume forming machine? We have one at school and if you were to stick you pickup in that it would make a perfect fit cover. I dont THINK it would get hot enough to damage the pickup either.
