MM SR4 , to buy or not to buy?

After I sold my beautiful MM Stingray 5 Classic, I decided to get back to 4 strings. I am planning to buy this bass, but I'm not able to try it because it is in another country .. I wanted to ask you if this position G-strings "promises" weak G-string issue, or is not necessary for this to happen? Thank you in advance for your help

No probs.

Take a look at the E string. Does that present a prob?....no.

Strings don't have to be perfectly aligned over pole pieces.

Any weak G string issue (if that's what you're asking) depends on the players ability to adjust his/hers preamp and power amp.

The "weak G string" issue on Stingrays falls into the same category as the Stingray being a "one trick pony"... both are complete myths.

The Stingray is probably one of the finest instruments in production today. Buy with confidence!

groove, mind me asking why you are going back to 4 string? I started a thread on this topic...would like to get your opinion.

bought two of my sterlings overseas and I just crossed my fingers and prayed they wouldn't have any issues. When they arrived I was blown away. Couldn't be happier. Next buy would be a stingray...Hope you will be happy with that bass. I think one of my sterlings doesn't align with the pole pieces too but never felt it to be weak. They have very even string to string volume.
 
Isn't the camera angle from that picture coming a little bit from the right, hence the G string looks a litlle left?
 
Unfortunately I can not buy this bass, because the shop in Italy completely disorganized .. do not respond to e-mails at 3 days and at the end they do not want to accept PayPal, etc. .. I found another bass in another shop and I hope to receive PayPal payments.

Stingrays are most definitely NOT one trick ponies, but Big Poppa might disagree with you regarding the weak G string being a "myth". http://forums.ernieball.com/music-man-basses/11343-weak-g-string-output.html#post133690

Personally, I've experienced "slightly lower output" on the G string, but nothing that I would label as "weak". If you happen to experience it, it's something that can be easily offset by a simple pickup height adjustment that takes about 10 seconds. :)
 
Mate, look at a Big Al neck pickup if you want to see something that doesn't line up !!!

Or better still, buy from your Local Store !!!! For gods sack !!!!!!

The Internet and all us knuckleheads on this forum can't tell you what that bass plays like, every bass is different (cause there made outta different pieces of wood). As for the G String not being over centre of the pole piece, it look the same as my PDN Glided SR4.
 
New Stingray in local store ( 1560 eur. only one store in my country sell MM basses), used one 1100 eur..I bought used one but not one from the pic above, no problems, very satisfied with my new SR4.

Interesting.

I've owned three Stingrays (still have two) and a Sterling, and I've never had this problem. I know a few other local musicians that use Stingrays, and there's never been any mention of this being a problem. In fact, I'd never even heard of it until I read it on the internet...

Maybe I've just been lucky to have picked up basses that were well set up (all my basses are second hand... I prefer them that way).
