Mostly for Sir Bovine of the Bongo

Well, not neccessarily, I just only know for sure that Bovine's played on a graphite necked bass before. To anybody that can answer, here's my thing.

As I sat to play the Bongo that will be mine, oh yes, it will be mine, I noticed the neck felt a bit different than my SUB. It felt like, What I Imagine, a graphite neck would feel lick. Am I just so used to my old SUB that I'm crazy or is there any sense in this. I did read that the there was some sort of special Nut to help intonation, but I'm not exactly sure how that would affect the neck.

Anyhow, my question to anybody that knows is this: Does the Bongo neck feel like a graphite neck

Or

Does anybody else notice the beck of the Bongo feeling slightly different.

It does feel different. It feels good. That's a big improvement from my ESP bass, which feels bad.

I have a Peavey B-Quad 4, which has a graphite neck made by Modulus. I love the graphite neck, but it doesn't feel anything like my Bongo neck - which I also love.

The graphite neck is thinner and a lot more stiff feeling. When I slap on the graphite neck, it doesn't move at all. It's almost like you can't feel the slapping at all. Nothing moves - no vibrations, nothing. When I slap on the Bongo, it feels more organic.

I guess that's the best way I can describe it - more organic... More natural.

I think a lot of times our eyeballs have way too much influence over both our choices and what we perceive to be....as opposed to what really IS.

The Bongo in darker colors, such as my fiver, looks like a big ole hunk of graphite, and I admit that at first the combination of color and different neck radius made me think, "Whoa, hey, it IS like graphite."

But it isn't, not really.

I liked the graphite-necked basses I had, but they do feel different. (No dead spots, usually.) I mean different from wood.

The Bongo neck, as you noticed, does feel different. It's not quite a Stingray, not quite a Sterling, but somewhere in between. I think that's what you're noticing.

On the other hand, I might be full of cow doo-doo.

Thanks guys, I knew it wasn't graphite, for the record, but it did feel different. As long as I'm not going mad.

It has this satiny finish. A couple friends asked me if it was a wood neck after carressing it. Granted, they weren't real musicians (drummer jokes...ha ha....), but if I hadn't known better, I may have wondered about it too. It's not JUST the shade I have, it's the actual satiny finish on the neck, while the body has the high gloss coating.

The neck feels so buttery smooth!

Yea, it does feel glossy

But nothin like Graphite in my opinion. I've played the Modulus Flea bass, and that's one of the best feeling necks i've tried
