It is with sadness that I announce that the SUB is being discontinued. Several years ago when we introduced it we showed that it was possible to make a decent instrument at a reasonable price in the USA. It's just not possible anymore and I dont want to buy bodies from china and assemble them in the USA. Every component of SUB increased that we were losing money on each thath we sold.

We will honor all existing orders at a adjusted price(see your dealer if you have one on order) but effective today we will no longer accept new orders.

WOW but bizniss is bizniss ,u cant keep making them at a loss and they probably werent a retail giant sooooo ,u wouldnt do it if u didnt have to,

I'm amazed at how you're able to keep the prices as low as you do on your other instruments given the costs you have, not to mention being located in beautiful SLO. I understand how business works though and if the Sub has to go, it has to go.

So now My SUB is a "rare" discontinued collectors item!!!!
Woo Hoo!

So looking to the future. Is there anything up your sleeve to take its' place on the production line? Or perhaps just relief? Until this thread I forgot I had one of these. (It's at my friends house) I need to go update my signature.

the way i see it is, you gotta do what you gotta do to survive!

there are plenty of EBMM guitar models out there to satisfy everybody's needs!

BP, I understand and you guys did a great job with the Sub. Sorry :(

So, what will be replacing it in the EBMM lineup?

*joey Lawrence voice* Woah!

Wow... RARE GUITAR NOW!! YEAH!!!!

right.....

Thanks for such a great guitar!

I think the SUB line of guitars and basses was wonderful. I sold a few here and there, but believe it or not people would pick one up at the store and then go right for the EBMM at twice the price.

I'm sad to see the SUB line end, but I think it's a good idea.

BTW, I have one Teal HH tremolo SUB here, and a 4 & 5 string bass... Buy them now before they hit ebay as "RARE N.O.S. MusicMan S.U.B." :D

It's a sad day indeed- let's all think fondly of the Sub. But, business is business and you can't make a product you lose money on. :(

That is really too bad. I was always amazed how you could put so much into the Sub at that price point.
I guess the good news is that with the Sub gone, that will free up the fine MM craftsmen for bigger and better things :)

glad I got a Sub----terrific guitar, great price, and nice playability. I love keeping the SUB at work and not having to worry that it's my Luke or my Axis.

They were great while they lasted... but I'm glad the resources will be devoted to all the stunning new toys you folks have been dreaming up lately!

Goodbye SUB, hello Sitrucci! :p

(a guy can dream...)

I played a SUB at guitar center it was a very well made axe. It felt like a true ball. Which it is.

BP,

I commend you on the success on setting out to show everyone that a cheaper US made product could be done!
You're so busy, I'm sure the factory could better use those resources on all the other great products you have happening! :)

i commend you for sticking to your guns and not using cheaper imported crap from china. i wish more businesses showed these kind of ethics
