Hi everyone. I have been hanging out in the forum for a week or two but was waiting to introduce myself until I officially became an EBMM owner. Yesterday I drove two hours each way to pick up the bass I have been dreaming about for the past 10 years. An SR5!
I am a lefty and have only ever seen one other lefty EBMM bass and was totally smitten with it. Obtaining a new guitar is not an easy thing for me these days as family, mortgage etc has seriously curtailed any GAS issues I have been inflicted with.
But lately I have been realizing that I'm not getting any younger, and the one bass I have always wanted was only going to be a possibility if I "cleaned house" and traded in some other basses. So it turns out, Long & Mcqaude had the exact SR5 I had been planning to order in another city and after trading away two other basses, I took delivery of my dream bass yesterday.
Its trans orange with a rosewood board and the black pearloid pickguard. I've had some nice basses before but I gotta say, watching the salesman bring out this bass still in the shipping box, and open it up was just about the coolest thing thats happened to me in a while!
First of all the Music Man case is really impressive. And the SR5 inside took my breath away. The first thing the salesman said was "holy crap it has a one piece body!" I didn't even plug it in in the store!!
Needless to say I have been in a state of rapture ever since! I cant stop drooling over it. I could go on for hours about the fit and finish, the amazing feel of the instrument and the sound, but most of you here likely well familiar with how great and truly high class these basses are. I am completely over the moon with this bass and do not expect the "honeymoon stage" to end any time in the forseeable future.
This bass may very well be the last bass I ever need and I have to say, I don't think I could ask for more. Big kudos and appreciation to Sterling and evryone at EBMM for such a well made instrument!
I apologize for the crappy pic but I don't have much of a camera. I would love to hear comments from other SR5 owners regarding these babies.
