I am new to the bass with about 1 year of experience. No prior musical training unless you call a failed attempt at the trumpet & snare drum when I was in grade school (the director would nail us over the knuckles with a drumstick when we screwed up so I said the heck with this)

I figured out how to record through my Zoom but still don't know how to edit to make it sound pretty.

I know I suck but you should be able to tell me where this riff is from:

Even though your clip is small you should be in the habit of converting your clips to a compressed format for sharing on the web. MP3, WMV, OGG, etc will do nicely.

As far as the bass sound goes, use the knobs on the bass to dial in the sound you want, instead of using eq afterwards.

Have fun. :)

Wow. On another bass forum it was guessed on the 1st post. No hints since I know it can be guessed.

I'm sure, absolutely sure, that it's a Gilbert and Sullivan thing.....I'd say "Lord Chancellor's Nightmare Song" from the operetta "Iolanthe, or The Peer and the Peri".

What do I win?

Still no. My little recreation is basically 4 riffs one after another trying to get it right. I think the last one is the best. It is close enough to get it even though it is not 100% correct.

I only live 6 miles from Dall-Ass, PA. what a small world.

I have no idea about the first one, but I believe the second one is the bassline to The Thrill is Gone. What do I win?:D

The 2nd one was already guessed "The Thrill is Gone" BB King.

Now about the 1st one. It is funny how in one forum they guessed the 1st one immediately and still do not know the 2nd one and it the opposite here.
