I must confess, after using a MM vintage tremolo I think it beats most Floyd Rose tremolos (Luke I) concerning usability and playability. Reminds me to take my Ibanez RG750 to service to fix the Floyd Rose floating bridge as it can't keep stable tuning now after years of use.
I never thought I'd say it, but I wholeheartedly agree that the ebmm tremolo with the locking tuners blows the Floyd Rose away.
Me too!!! Believe me, this is NO dis on my Y2D because it is a magnificent guitar, but every-time I play it I think to myself how much I wish it it had a MM tremolo!!!
I have to respectfully disagree with all of you. The new EBMM floyd that is on the Luke 1 reissue with back routing is the best bridge made imho. Period.
Out of curiosity are you guys doing mild trem work or do you employ it wildly for outrageous squeals, 2-3 note upper bends, and flutter bombs? Also I set my action very very low as I do a lot of fast legato runs across the board. Can the vintage trem be set extremely low in order to achieve this type of action while still offering the amount of pull back that the new EBMM floyd provides?
Nothing against the Vintage EBMM bridge, but I can not get it to do what the new EBMM floyd can do. It is simply not capable of doing what I require of it. 2 Different animals imho.
Granted, I do not own an EBMM vintage trem equipped guitar, but every time I have picked one up at my local shop I can not believe at how limited its range is. I'm not addressing stability here for the record.
Not trying to argue for the sake of arguing, but I wanted to share my experience with the EBMM full floating trem on the Luke 1 reissue. I find it has better feel, response, and shimmer to the old Gotoh that was equipped on the original luke one and Axis Guitars. I have owned one of each of those guitars for reference and currently own 2 Luke 1 reissues with the new EBMM floating floyd bridge.
The fact that the current production Luke comes only with the vintage trem is the ONLY reason I only own 2 of the reissues. I would/will own at least 3 at this point if/when Big Poppa releases the reissue here in the states of if he ever makes the original Luke a production guitar. I have contacted shops in the EU and here in the States looking for a third as recently as last week. I buy at least one guitar a year and it has been the 2 luke reissues the last 2 years. They are keepers for life.
Againn, I am glad you guys love your guitars and the bridges they have. I just wanted to share my experiences as well.
