NBD: EBMM Sterling

Just acquired this lovely, trans red, maple FB Sterling.

I was looking for something a little different from my other bass, a Gordon-Smith Gryphon.
I was initially thinking of a Jazz Bass, trying a lovely Sandberg California TT and a Jap Tokai.
I also played a US G&L L-2000.
All super basses.
But even though I prefer passive basses normally, once I'd got my hands on this Sterling and adjusted the controls to my liking, it had to be the one coming home with me.
Such a playable neck, with the absolute quality I'd expect from a MusicMan.
This is my first EBMM bass, though I've been a proud owner of 2 of their guitars.

Great choice! And couldn't agree more. I've played a bunch of basses at this point and the Sterling's neck is the fastest neck I've ever seen hands down. Plus it's pretty much the coolest looking bass on the planet...

I know what you mean about a white PG looking cool but my other main bass is dark red, with a maple FB and white PG, so the black gives a difference, I appreciate.

Its looks just great how it is, Not a big fan of white pic guards, got one an ... like it the way it is, it don't suite my Buttercrem, it would work on the sunburst but personally I prefer the black, (or clear if can find one, beautiful burst going to waste under there).

I played a brand new version of my Sterling yesterday.
The colour was a gorgeous metallic burgundy.
The neck was incredibly slim. And I thought mine was slim.
It was almost too narrow. Very fast but I'm not sure it was quite me.
It also felt quite stiff, in comparison.
It was apleasure to play though and sounded great through the shop's Hartke stack.
Then I played a gloss, natural wood, body, with a maple F/B, Stingray.
OMG, what a stunning bass.
Never got the cash when you need it.
