The neckplates that are countersunk into the body of the guitar so they are flush were on all models for a short period of time in the mid-late '90s, but problems with finsh cracks caused by over-zealous screw-tightening by amateur luthiers led to the discontinuation of that particular design feature... Too bad to, 'cause I personally LOVE it!
