This one has me stumped, so I thought I would ask the experts to see if I can get some help with this problem...

I was playing my Stingray 5 on stage the other night, everything was fine, then I lifted it up a little and bumped it against my leg. All of a sudden there is no sound. Nothing. Tried the input jack, not working. Opened the cavity the next day and looked around for a loose wire, don't see anything odd. Just put a new battery in right before the gig and it was working fine.

I'm stumped! Anyone have any hints or things I should be looking at?

Is it working now?

The battery compartment is right near your leg, and you did just put a new battery in so maybe you disturbed something.

Regardless, it's probably better to give customer service a call or email.

had a similar issue.........and was told that maybe the battery wasn't touching the poles in the compartment.........you might need a little shim........or..as i did......i went to cheaper batteries that are a tad bigger than the duracells.and they fit fine now.......

good luck man

I did have the battery compartment open up on me when I did a similar thing.
I have been using Duracells as those are the EBMM preferred battery...I have a feeling that might be it.

Does the bass just cut out without a battery? I know there are some that will still work without the battery....

OK, now I REALLY feel like a dumbass.

I was trying to check the battery to make sure the wires were attached, and removed the battery compartment from the bass to check the wires.

I pulled it out and the wires disconnected from the battery compartment!
So now I have a red wire and a black wire that I have to re-solder and I dont know which is positive and which is negative.

Man, this stuff REALLY makes me feel like a newbie around here, which I am, but...any help would be appreciated, I need to get this puppy back on the road! THANKS!

Found a digram here: http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/TOWN8019/MyStorage/Pre-Amp Page Pics/N_SR4._Newer_3EQ.jpg

Sweet! Got it re-soldered and now it is thumping again!!

LOL

Glad you got it fixed, sir!

Don't feel like a dumba**. I high-centered our Honda Odyssey in a culvert the other night while looking at Christmas lights. Even my 2 year-old son made fun of me, not to mention my wife, oy vey. Stupid open differentials. I had to call a TOW TRUCK for cryin' out loud.

Must be the time of the year for dumba$$es. We had some friends over for a BBQ yesterday, and one of the kids (not mine) thought it was cool to grab a set of her mother's keys and stick the ignition key in a door lock, bending the key in the process. "No worries, mate" said I, grabbing a pair of pliers "I'll fix it". As I bent the key back into position it broke clean off where it had been bent. The woman had to get a ride home to pick up her spare car key.

Welcome to the club... been there, done that... and just about half an hour after I took my sparkly ray home... those battery cables are sort of short on some basses.

You're welcome. I dug up for someone else with a problem at Rod Trussbrokens faboulos website, which is a great resource if you're looking for anything technical about MM basses. Since I don't own any decent soldering equipment anymore, I brought mine to the distributors CS.
