The switching functions on the new 2PU bass models are shown below. Please note that these are subject to change!

Switch positions are shown moving from position 1 (closest to bridge) to position 5 (closest to neck).

HS MODELS:
Coil 1=Bridge Humbucker (coil closest to bridge)
Coil 2=Bridge Humbucker (coil closest to neck)
Coil 3=Neck Single coil

Position 1=coils 1,2
Position 2=coil 1
Position 3=coils 1,2,3
Position 4=coils 2,3
Position 5=coil 3

HH MODELS:
Coil 1=Bridge Humbucker (coil closest to bridge)
Coil 2=Bridge Humbucker (coil closest to neck)
Coil 3=Neck Humbucker (coil closest to bridge)
Coil 4=Neck Humbucker (coil closest to neck)

Jeez, now THAT is going to take some rememberin' for an old country boy. Maybe I can get a music stand and put like a flow chart on it, maybe.....on the other hand, I usually find one or two good tones and roll with those.

1) If Position 2 leaves Station A traveling 20mph at 3:45pm, and Position 5 leaves Station B traveling 45mph at 5:15pm, when do the two positions meet?

Thanks for the info, though it's not going to make any sense till one plays with it for a while.

The bridge PUs are the same as the one puppers. Are they in parallel or series when using only coil 1 & 2?

Does the single coil sound demonstrively different than one coil of the humbucker? If not, it seems that the HH could do everything the HS could with a few more options switch wise. I'm surprised there's no 1,2,3 or 1,3,4 combination on the HH.

Maybe that question should really be: are the HS & HH models a lot different, or is the HS a less expensive variant. Seems like the HS is closest to a J bass, sorta, kinda.

On the HH, does position 2 really sound much different than position 4?

I was thinking that the HH would be the ticket, but in a way the HS seems more appealing.

It's really hard to answer these questions without really seeing/hearing/playing these. On one hand it seems that a simpler setup would be more intuitive, like a blend pot and some coil switches. OTOH, blend pots really only seem to have 3, maybe four noticably different positions. The lever gives one the ability to make an easy. quick change to a predictable setting. I trust you EB guys have thought about all of this for a while and figured this was the best way to go. I'm really looking forward to experiencing these!!!!

First shalt thou move the Holy Position Switch to position three, no more, no less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then playeth thou "Smoke On The Water" repeatedly, and all things being equal, if thy guitar player be drunk, only then shall the two positions meet.

ya i know!!!! how awesome. i talked to bassplyr on the phone today for a lil while and we were both super stoked. ive got his cell number so im gonna place my order w/ him while hes on the NAMM floor :)

Answer: they never meet. The original problem failed to mention that the stations are only 30 feet apart. Thus, when Position 5 departs Station B at 5:15pm, Position 2 had long been removed from the track connecting the two stations. It is in fact, on a siding near Position 3 having martinis with Lord Bongo.
